Back to 2008

In May of 2008, I took a trip to the West Coast of Florida to visit my friend PK Litchenberger . PK had a litter of lab puppies that were around 5 weeks old. I had no intention of adding a dog to my life but after being stalked by the blue collar male all weekend, I made the plunge. That blue collar male was Kona and he had decided I needed a dog .

The next big step

  • When I decided to bring to Kona home, I just thought I’d have a new buddy to go hiking and camping with. Then one day while at dog beach, someone asked if I was going to show him. Hmm. Maybe? We attended a few AKC shows as a puppy and even took a 2nd in the Sporting group for the puppy show. Then I joined a Lab forum online and it all changed. Someone mentioned hunt tests. A monster was born. Through the help of various club members and trainers, Kona was able to achieve his Master Hunter title and attend a few Master Nationals. During that time, he also became a GRCH Show Champion in UKC and was pointed in the AKC show ring.

Decision was made, time to add to the family

Through the Lab forum, I met Anne Swindeman of WindyCanyon Labradors. I was having a hard time finding a Lab that I liked looks and working ability wise. Anne had just the Labs I wanted. After waiting 2 years for my favorite bitch of hers to be bred, I took a trip out to Washington state and Journey came home. A few months later, Kona sired a litter in Kentucky. I offered to take pick male up North to find a working/competition home. That dog was Ozzy and well, he never left.

Let's make some puppies

Anne was gracious enough to give me full rights to Journey and in the Winter of 2015 I bred her to Kona. February of 2016, my first litter here at Triple Threat was born. It was an all yellow litter of 8. Journey was an incredible mom and I chose to keep a female. That female is Bowie

The future looks great!

In the past years, both Journey and Ozzy attained their Master Hunter titles. Ozzy went on to become Qualified All Age and is now dabbling in the agility ring. Journey and Kona are retired from breeding. Bowie obtained her JH but due to an injury while at trainers, I was forced to retire her from competition. Bowie has now taken over the role of brood bitch and I am excited to see what she produces!
